Feel the power of the flat-era! Check out this Wired article regarding flatscreen watches. Some amazing stuff.

The items in the article are using a technology known as “OLED”, or “Organic Light Emitting Diodes”. The technology has actually been around for quite some time—in fact, I first heard of it in 2002—but getting it to an affordable and lucrative range has been a struggle; but it’s getting there. Some analysts predict that it will inevitably replace Plasma, LCD and LED screens in Television sets; the main reasons being it’s form factor (less than, say, a quarter inch thick) the colors are richer, and it consumes less energy, while being much brighter. And, of course, there’s the “cool” factor; having the potential to be rolled up into a thin cylinder and tucked away—just imagine your television doing that!

incidentally, OLED’s were one of the hot topics at this year’s CES.

You can read more about OLED’s on “How Stuff Works.”
